Generative AI has advanced rapidly in recent years, with adoption expanding across the business world. However, many companies remain at the experimental stage, having merely “tried out” AI without fully integrating it into their workflows or generating a clear return on investment.

One company attracting attention for offering a concrete solution to this challenge is VCAT.AI, a Korean startup specializing in AI solutions for marketing content creation. The company provides comprehensive support to help global enterprises eliminate reliance on individual creators, reduce inconsistencies in quality, and establish AI as part of their operational infrastructure.

We spoke with Mr. Yamashita, who leads VCAT.AI’s expansion in Japan, about the company’s strengths, successful implementation cases, and plans for future growth.

From a "New Tool" to the Infrastructure of Creative Production

At VCAT.AI, we specialize in creating marketing content such as images and videos, as well as providing the tools needed to produce it.

Today, AI is increasingly being used to generate attractive images, write copy, and perform a wide range of other tasks. However, we do not believe that AI should remain merely a “new tool.” Its true value emerges only when its implementation changes the structure of a company’s operations and generates measurable results and a clear return on investment.

For this reason, we place particular emphasis on helping organizations use AI under company-wide governance and embed it deeply into their creative production operations as part of their infrastructure.

Based on this philosophy, we primarily offer the following three services:

  • VCAT.AI: A SaaS platform that enables anyone, anywhere, to accurately produce creative assets in accordance with predefined rules.

  • Creagen Lab: A creative team that produces content on behalf of clients using the latest AI technologies.

  • Creagen: Bespoke software and SaaS development tailored to each client’s operational workflows.

Hyundai Demonstrates Powerful Brand Governance and Significant Cost Savings

Hyundai Motor Company is one example of a client that has effectively utilized our services. With 500 overseas offices across 40 countries, Hyundai needed marketing materials produced in each market to comply consistently with its global brand guidelines. However, despite having more than 200 pages of detailed guidelines and providing on-site training, creative assets produced in different countries continued to lack consistency.

Using VCAT.AI’s technology, we developed and delivered a dedicated software solution called **Hyundai AD Creator**.

As a result, Hyundai became able to produce materials that comply with its brand guidelines regardless of who creates them or where they are created. This helped prevent the dilution of its global brand value.

The project not only improved the visual quality and consistency of the company’s creative assets but also reduced creative production costs by more than JPY 800 million. It also contributed significantly to Hyundai’s receipt of the internationally renowned iF Design Award.

A Proven Track Record and the Power of Creative Content in Japan

VCAT.AI has also continued to build a strong track record in the Japanese market.

For example, we worked with Meiji, one of Japan’s leading companies, to produce a crowdfunding video for a product targeting families. We created a video that clearly communicated both the appeal of the product and its development process.

As a result, the crowdfunding campaign achieved 8.5 times its original target.

We also produced a video for the Korean restaurant brand Mom’s Touch as it strengthened its localization efforts in Japan.

Rather than simply highlighting the brand’s success in Korea, we adopted the concept of a traditional Japanese school cheering squad dressed in *gakuran* uniforms, creating a campaign designed to resonate more strongly with Japanese consumers.

The video reached 500,000 views within just one month of its release.

In another project with Mitsubishi Motors, we supported the production of social media images for the company’s operations in the Philippines.

A conventional studio shoot involving backgrounds, models, and vehicles would typically cost between JPY 1 million and JPY 3 million. By using our AI technology, however, we were able to generate high-quality images comparable to professional photography entirely on a computer, without requiring an actual photo shoot.

End-to-End Support, from Creative Production Services to Bespoke SaaS Development

As new AI tools continue to emerge, VCAT.AI differentiates itself in two key ways.

  1. An extensive track record of enterprise implementation We have established references demonstrating tangible contributions to the operations of major global enterprises, including NAVER, Lotte, Amorepacific, and L’Oréal.

  2. The integration of in-house studio capabilities and software development Unlike conventional tool vendors, we have both an in-house creative team and a software development team.

The second point is particularly important and represents one of our greatest strengths.

Rather than asking clients to implement VCAT.AI immediately, we can begin by providing outsourced creative production services, which require minimal changes to the client’s existing operations. This allows the client to experience the quality of our output and evaluate the benefits of AI implementation firsthand.

We can then systematize the production process itself and develop a bespoke software platform or SaaS solution specifically for that client.

VCAT.AI's Future Vision for the Japanese Market

VCAT.AI entered the Japanese market in June 2024. Compared with Korea, we believe the Japanese market has certain distinctive cultural characteristics, including a greater degree of psychological resistance to AI and a strong craftsmanship-oriented mindset.

For this reason, our localization efforts go beyond simply providing Japanese-language support. One of our major priorities is to fully localize our visual aesthetics, website structure, and user experience in a way that feels natural and accessible to Japanese users.

As the next step in our business development roadmap, we aim to establish a successful case in Japan comparable to our work with Hyundai. We believe we can provide particular value to manufacturers with their own branded products and companies that sell products through e-commerce channels.

We are also strengthening our collaboration with Japanese partners such as Givery and AdInte to accommodate the country’s distinctive business and distribution structures. Through these partnerships, we intend to actively develop alliances in which VCAT.AI’s capabilities can be integrated into and delivered through our partners’ existing systems.

Conclusion

As many companies continue to explore how best to utilize AI, VCAT.AI has established a distinctive position by simultaneously providing two forms of value: improving the quality of creative content and automating and systematizing creative operations.

Rather than simply offering standalone tools, the company goes further by building operational infrastructure tailored to each client’s specific challenges.

VCAT.AI’s solutions have the potential to dramatically improve the productivity of marketing operations at Japanese companies. Through further localization for the Japanese market and the expansion of local partnerships, the company is expected to make a significant impact across the industry.
